  • No. We believe in empowering local in-country doctors and hospitals to make a sustainable difference in their own country. Many studies show that sending temporary foreign aid to countries, such as "fly-in" U.S doctors, can undermine a country's economy, neglect the necessary follow-up care to patients, and discourage sustainability for local doctors.

  • Absolutely. You will change a life! Since $10 provides a pair of glasses and $25 will pay for a cataract surgery—a little goes a long way.

  • Donating money is not the only way to restore vision, giving your time in volunteering to collecting much needed items to ship to countries and popping out glasses are a few of the many ways you can help. Spreading the word about how vision is a problem worldwide and empowering each other to take action through social media, community centers and local programs aimed to help restore vision will also create an impact.

  • SightBuddies is our international child school screening program ( named "Quiero Ver" in Latin America.) Since over 15% of children cannot see the board and roughly 10-20% of all children screened need glasses, then it is imperative that we reach each child around the globe and help them get sight! We are expanding our program around the world, and are currently serving school children in United States, El Salvador, Peru, Colombia, Bolivia, Dominican Republic, Haiti, Pakistan, India, Indonesia, Tanzania and Kenya. By training the teachers and upper class men on how to do a first vision screening, we can prepare the children who truly need the help for our SightBuddies teams to come in to do an in-depth screening and gift glasses to children of low income families. To see the smile on these children's faces will change your life for good—forever!

  • Actually, like all organizations we do have overhead. We pride ourselves in keeping it to a very manageable and appropriate level. However, a few years ago we created a medical company that not only helps us to source our equipment and supply needs, but generates its own income.
